Earlier this summer, Ohio Governor Michael DeWine signed House Bill 99 into
law – this law allows school staff, including classroom teachers, to house and
carry firearms in a school and in classrooms after a 24 hour training period.
The administration of ACPA has no intentions to pursue any policy that would
allow any staff member to carry firearms at ACPA. ACPA’s current policy that no
person (staff, student, parent, caregiver or any other guest) may carry firearms or
other weapons on school grounds or in the building remains intact.
Administration will continue to examine and strengthen our current practices and
policies as part of our commitment to keeping students, staff and visitors safe
while at ACPA.
