Announcing ACPA’s 25-26 Theme: Arts in Action

IMAGINE and put the Arts in Action

Picture a world where every student with a dream of becoming an artist, actor, musician, or designer has the opportunity to meet people just like them, step into spaces where their creativity can thrive, develop their craft in brand new ways, and make lasting change. This vision is what fueled the decision to make Arts in Action our theme for the 2025-2026 school year.

Arts in Action (4)

Let's imagine together:

  • Classes of students traveling all over Columbus (and beyond) to witness firsthand the artwork of influential artists like Aminah Robinson, Richard Duarte Brown, and Lisa McLymont
  • Local bands like Snarls and Mojoflow sitting in with ACPA's Band Lab and Modern Band groups and sharing feedback and experiences
  • Students sitting in the audience of the Columbus Symphony, Jazz Arts Group, and BalletMet performances
  • Students learning about the power of the pen with writing greats like Hanif Abdurraqib and Amy Turn Sharp
  • Visual art students creating a public mural alongside Columbus-based artists like Bryan Moss, Jen Wrubleski, and Dan Gerdeman

We're excited to partner with teachers and students to imagine all the ways we can put the arts in action this year. If you have an idea or connection we should know about, please email pennington@artcollegeprep.org!

As part of this vision, we're seeking collaboration with caregivers, community members, and local businesses to make these ideas a reality through the Arts in Action fund. Due to funding cuts on both the state and federal level, monetary support is more important than ever to make these initiatives possible. Any contribution, big or small, can help put a student (or a whole class!) out into our community.

How to support:

  • Direct donation - Anyone can help bring this initiative to life through a direct monetary donation, either by cash, check, or online donation through Network for Good. These dollars can be used almost immediately for field trip expenses, art and music equipment, guest artist bookings, performance tickets, and more.
      • $10 can provide lunch for a student attending a field trip for the day
      • $50 covers a ticket to a theater or music performance for one student
      • $100 covers a workshop fee for a student
      • $250 covers the cost of one bus for a field trip within Columbus
      • $750 pays for a guest artist to visit ACPA for a day, spending time with classes and small groups of students
  • Become a Friend Of The Arts - sponsor one of ACPA's arts departments - Art, Music, Dance, or Theater - for a term, semester, or the entire year, and put the Arts in Action by funding the performances and creative projects that inspire our students and community. This option is ideal for businesses as it also includes sponsorship opportunities at our arts events throughout the year, though anyone can become a Friend Of The Arts and make a lasting impact.
      • $2,500 - Funds a department for a term
      • $5,000 - Funds a semester
      • $10,000 - Funds the full school year
      • Friends of the Arts receive complimentary event tickets, special edition merchandise, and visibility on ACPA's social media accounts and website

However you choose to support, you or your business will be recognized within a student-designed mural located near the front entrance of ACPA in the spring.
